What is arthugger?

arthugger is a website where you can share your experience with contemporary art through short reviews, ratings and tags. It's free and open for all artlovers and artists.

Why are you doing this?

After working on Internet Communities for ten years and co-founding a sort-of artist-run experimental gallery in Munich for five years I sat in New York at the begining of Novmeber trying to learn to program and thought which project I could try out. Just two weeks earlier I met with the artist Jim Avignon who had the idea to try a recomendation-site for artists. So I thought of this and three weeks later launched arthugger.com.

I'm an artist. Can I promote myself?

What you can do, is you can add yourself to the list of artists and then click on the field "I am this artist". If your name has already been added then please drop me a short line with your username and I will add that. I will add more features for artists in future.

Why am I getting this error?

Please send me an email if you see any bugs. I'm still developing and really appreciate your feedbacks. Please also tell me if the system is very slow or if you see any typos.

What are you going to do about the layout?

I don't know but obviously I'm not a screendesigner. If you have any suggestions that are more than "make it nicer" then drop me a line.

Why can't I upload pictures?

Because of copyright issues. I'll be in Germany next year and there we have no DMC. This can mean that you have to pay lawyers for writing warning letters to you resulting in fees exiding $2000. Well, I can't afford that.
